Recently I have been writing fairly lengthy Facebook posts. Namely when I have a lot on my mind and I feel that by sharing I may feel lighter. My mother finally convinced me perhaps writing a blog would be a better platform for me to express my thoughts. I began brainstorming, desperately trying to find just the right name to encompass what I intend to write. My father is the writer of an excellent and clever blog named WTFery. His blog name in my mind is absolutely brilliant. I struggled to find something that felt as evocative. One afternoon I was working on my visualization exercises to help with my depression and anxiety. That day when I closed my eyes I saw a worn path that was winding and stretched on without any end in sight. It was lined by slightly crumbling stone walls. Above me the branches of old growth trees intertwined providing shade from the warm late summer sun. Beyond the trees that sat behind the walls there were rolling grassy fields. The grass danced lazily in the gentle breeze. The air carried a scent of sweetheart roses, a delicate heirloom rose from my childhood. I opened my eyes and smiled; I had found my name. The Wandering Lane was born from that visualization. This blog will be a place to share the lanes within my mind with others. Somewhere that I don’t have to wander these paths alone. The posts will cover just about anything on my mind at a given time. To those joining me on this journey thank you. I hope you will get as much out of reading this blog as I will writing it. I absolutely welcome discussion and comments!
Well done. The visualization description is evocative. Have you explored spider diagrams (also called mindmaps(TM)?
Thank you! I haven’t, I had to google them to be honest since I’d never heard of them. They seem interesting as well as a far more organized method of sorting through one’s thoughts.
This is such a beautiful extension of you! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the Journey! 💜
Proud of you Courtney. Lots of love, Dad
Thank you Daddy!! I love you too!
